Free and Fun Events This Weekend

Don’t miss out on our fun filled weekend, starting with the SouthWestFest Parade and Festival day on Saturday the 1st of July.

Join us and thousands of local residents for our annual Festival Day at St. George’s Square in Pimlico. This much loved Festival Day will open with our Carnival Parade celebrating SW1 and our international community in colourful style through the streets of Pimlico.

You can dance the day away at our main stage featuring great live music and performance with choirs, bands and more! Join Shambush for free arts activities including painting and box-fort building fun.

Make sure you don’t miss our host of stalls including clothes, jewellery, crafts, cakes, games as well as lots of information on services in SW1 from local organisations and groups.

Meet the animals stars of Vauxhall City Farm, entertain your children, get stuck into crafts and activities, check our NEW Health Zone plus have all the fun of the fair with rides for all the family. There will also be taster sessions and classes and don’t miss out on our popular spray paint and stencil art sessions.

Plus on Sunday head over to the Tate Britain for Box-Fort Building Fun!

Taking box forts to a whole new level, join Shambush in building a hope-filled, flamboyant, welcoming, oversized house of card. Enjoy the opportunity to get hands on with the building process and decorate your own box brick.

Unlike some, we want our walls to show off good things about humanity and welcome everyone, so come decorate a box with a few kind words about something or someone you love, a welcoming message to those who may feel alienated, a story about your community, something you’d wish for or would like to do make the world a happier place…

Decorate your box on Saturday 1st July at SoutheWestFest Festival Day and see them brought together, in a great display of considerate construction on Sunday 2nd July at Tate Britain

Best known for their nonsensicalness and bringing people together Shambush! Have produced such events as The Ultimate Kate Bush Experience and Shamland (a unique, participatory model village).
If you want to donate food or useful items on the day, in a pre-decorated box we will be collecting for Refugee Kitchen and local homeless charity The Passage (full list of items required to be posted on Southwestfest’s website

Take part on Saturday 1st July 12pm – 16pm at SouthWestFest’s main Festival Day and decorate a box, and then Sunday at the Duffield Room – Clore Gallery – Tate Britain from 2-4pm and see the building and finished house.
