Millbank Estate, Westminster’s leading TMO, is building on its outreach. As first step of developing a Millbank Community Award, Millbank Estate has become the sponsor of the Millbank Primary School Citizenship Awards. The 2011 Awards were handed to the 3 pupils, a winner and 2 runners-up, who consistently participated in special extracurricular citizenship program, benefiting the school as a whole or engaging with others.
The winner’s name was engraved in a plate permanently displayed at the school and he also received a trophy and an Argos voucher. The runners-up got a certificate and Argos vouchers too. The winning pupils and their parents where invited to view the estate and attended
a presentation at the MEMO office by estate Director Annelie Sernevall. This was followed by a lunch at Nandos. The celebration took place during a special school assembly in July and was attended by MEMO Chairman Wilfried Rimensberger and MEMO Company Secretary Pat Johnstone who handed over the awards. The success was such that the scheme’s organiser, deputy headteacher Diane George predicted that the school will be over-run by children who want to participate in the 2012 citizenship program. And headteacher Alyson Russen expressed the school’s gratitude towards Millbank estate residents:” It is great to get the support of the community in something that ensures future support for their own key value and belief.”
